Avocado and Chickenfoot

Friday, June 27th

Today, we got up and had a light breakfast. One of the things I definitely wanted to do while in Amarillo was to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Leal’s. We decided to do that for lunch, so a light breakfast fit the bill. We had ideas about doing some exploring around Amarillo, but the kitties kept us up a lot of the night last night, as they explored their new location.

We really enjoyed our meal at Leal’s! We were even served by a member of the Leal’s family, one of the third generation. It was pretty neat. I had my favorite dish there, the Avocado enchiladas, and Tony had the lunch fajitas, which was quite a large serving for the lunch menu.

After lunch, we came back and relaxed and rested.  We watched a little TV, and dozed in our chairs. Heather came by to pick up her dog, and we visited a bit.

This evening, my aunt and uncle were slated to host their church group dinner get-together, at their church, Trinity Lutheran. We eargerly agreed to help out and join in the fun.  My uncle and Tony got the burgers and hot-dogs ready, while I went with my aunt to help set up the meeting room.

We had a great evening with nearly 40 members of  “Mountain Toppers”, eating hotdogs and burgers along with all the fixin’s and sides, and a huge choice of desserts. After dinner, we played Chicken foot, a domino game. We had a great time, and I even won our table!

After the fun was over, we headed out the door and saw a great thunderhead, off to the east as the sun was starting to set. It was quite impressive. Once back home, we enjoyed visiting for a bit and hit the hay.
