Controlling the Ground

Friday, June 21

Today, Tony got up and got started working on the Ground Control install. He started with the hardest part first, the new rear jacks. They are positioned just behind the back wheels. He had to drill into the frame in 6 spots to add the bolt-on brackets, then the legs with the motors. He then worked on loosening the underbelly, so he could fish the wire harness through from front to back. We borrowed some items and tools to make this happen and it went well. Each side he worked on, we needed to retract the slide for that side, so I was in charge of corralling kitties to keep them from getting into places they didn't need to be. I had hoped to go to eat waffles at the Wyoming Chapter leader's trailer, but decided to help Tony with kitty wrangling instead.

At lunchtime, he stopped and we ate leftover steak outside at the park bench, then Tony got back to work. I helped a little with fishing some wires, then I headed over to a seminar.

When I got back, he had the front legs done. I helped a little with cleaning up and taking stuff to the trash, and when I came back, he had the wiring hooked up, and was testing it!

After the testing, we decided to get stuff put away, as it looked like it was going to rain and our catered dinner started at 6.... Tony jumped in the shower and I headed over with our drinks.

The dinner was good, with a big pork chop and sides, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Then the door prizes were given out--about 200 of them--and we won a $50 Chili's gift card!

We were tired, Tony especially, so we headed back instead of staying for the DJ entertainment. We stopped and looked at the show coaches, but didn't see anything we had to have. (It didn't rain, either!)

We returned home and chilled for a bit, then headed to bed. Tomorrow we have to be up and at the rally hall at 8, to go to the HL Factory Tour.
