Forging on to Pigeon Forge

Wednesday, June 12th

Today we were slow to get going, because of the busy day yesterday. However, we needed to get on the road. Next stop was Pigeon Forge, TN.

We got out of the park about 10AM, and had a nice drive. The terrain sure is changing now, lots of trees and rolling hills. The kitties did much better this trip, only howling a few times and sleeping most of the way.

We stopped at a rest area and had sandwiches. We also fueled up as we drove, and managed to NOT pay $3.69 for fuel.

The drive started to get a little squirrely about Knoxville... in the big cities, there are more lanes, more lane changes, and more unpredictable drivers. We put on our National Parks music, and that seems to help reduce the stress a little.

We got to Sevierville, and then suddenly traffic started crawling to Pigeon Forge. Well, yes there was some construction, but also because this is a high tourist area! Almost like the Las Vegas strip -- no, not casinos, but activities and attractions of all kinds: dinner shows, go carts, mini golf, rafting, souvenirs, zip lines, knife shops, tattoo parlors, t-shirts, eating places, hotels, arcades, lazer tag, etc. It was crazy! The speed limit is 30mph, and for good reason. Too much to see!

We pulled into Pine Mountain RV Park about 3pm, but with the time change it was 4pm. It was hot, about 93* and boy did we sweat getting set up! After an hour of sitting below the dumping AC vent, we finally ate some leftovers, and then took a walk around the park. We really like the look of this park, even though the sites are very short and we have to park the truck next to the coach to fit.

At the park office, Tony picked up a number of touristy pamphlets and rack cards, and spent the evening looking at possible things to do tomorrow. We hit the hay about 9:30.
